Online Gamblers Receive Scare With Chase Website Down
Millions of online gamblers in the US have been concerned about the fallout from the new laws in the country regarding Internet gambling. Among the most common fears is that the credit cards the gamblers have been using to make deposits would be denied by their financial institutions.
Today, some gamblers experienced a problem when logging into their accounts with Chase. The Chase website has been down since early this morning, and for online gamblers unaware that it was a common problem experienced by many customers, it became a reality check of what may be to come.
"I do not know too much about the new laws but I know that I have had to switch which credit cards I give to my online poker site," said one online player who wished to remain anonymous. "When I tried to log in this morning, I thought that there may have been a problem with my Chase card, but then I realized it was a problem they were having will all of their customers."
The technical support team has been working on fixing the site since the morning, and there has been a flood of calls into Chase's customer service telephone lines. With millions of customers being affected, the company was working diligently to try and find a solution to the problem. In the meantime, account holders were left to wonder whether the solution would come before the end of the day.
In June, the Unlawful Internet gambling Enforcement Act went into effect in the US. The law holds financial institutions responsible for stopping transactions to and from online gambling sites. The institutions have explained to members of Congress in the past how they would be unable to implement such a system of checks and balances. Online Bingo Games
Representative Barney Frank and other lawmakers are seeking to have the UIGEA overturned. If successful, Frank's proposal would set up a regulated system of Internet gambling in the country that would protect the millions of players that currently play online poker in the US. The US is considered to be the largest online gambling market in the world. Bingo Promotions
