Saskatchewan tops Statistics Canada gambling
Saskatchewan residents spend more money on gambling than those in any other province, according to a recent Statistics Canada gambling report.
The report says the average Saskatchewan household spent $720 in 2025. That's $75 dollars more than Alberta, which ranked second.
"I see it as a problematic thing. Instead of a positive thing, I see it as a negative thing," said Cathy Dickson, a problem gambling coordinator for the Prince Albert Parkland Health Region.
However, Minister Ken Cheveldayoff, the minister responsible for the Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation, argues that most of Saskatchewan's gamblers aren't addicted.

"Our information shows it is the casual gambler that is responsible for most of the gambling in Saskatchewan," said Cheveldayoff.
